Meet our renowned and successful medical providers as well as the owners of Bernard Cannabis Center!


Johnny BernardJohnny Bernard, Jr., MD is a local board certified Radiation Oncologist, specializing in treating cancer with radiation. He attended medical school and internship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and completed residency training in radiation oncology at the internationally renowned Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, where he served as Chief Resident and attained the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Bernard has published numerous research articles on cancer detection and treatment. He served as a Radiation Oncologist for the Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of Major. Dr. Bernard is known in the community for his compassionate bedside manner, always doing his best to listen to the patient and their concerns and provide the best options for treatment. He went from a skeptic to a believer in cannabis after years of patients sharing with him their stories of how cannabis was working to help with numerous symptoms. His many patient requests for medical cannabis sparked his interest in researching medical cannabis and becoming a qualified provider. Dr. Bernard is now a true believer in integrating medical cannabis for qualifying patients to provide the highest quality of care.

Dr. Bernard is a qualified physician under Florida Law to perform evaluations for low-THC and medical cannabis. All Medical Cannabis Evaluations in Florida will be performed by him or Dr. Janes. Taralyn BernardTaralyn Bernard, OTR/L is a graduate of Tennessee State University, former owner of Pediatric Therapy Services, and co-owner of the Bernard Cannabis Center. She is a board certified and licensed Occupational Therapist who has over 20 years of experience, having rehabilitated patients suffering from strokes, traumatic brain injury, cancer, dementia, pain management, PTSD, etc. Taralyn also assisted patients in activities of daily living skills so that they can maximize their independence with life. Together with Dr. Johnny Bernard, clients will receive a holistic approach for optimal care.


Donald Janes, Jr., MD, PhDDonald Janes, Jr., MD, PhD has been practicing Emergency Medicine since 2002. He attended the University of Florida and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1987. He then went to the University of California, Riverside and in 1994, earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology for his field and lab work on Adélie penguins in Antarctica. After two postdoctoral fellowships and a stint as a Naturalist on board the ship World Discoverer in Antarctica, Dr. Janes switched careers and went to medical school at the University of California, Irvine. In 2005 as Chief Resident, he completed his training in Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University, California.

As an Emergency Physician, Dr. Janes has witnessed first-hand the effects of the opioid epidemic and has recognized that cannabis, a plant used medicinally for thousands of years, has great potential to be a far safer alternative to opioids for chronic pain. Moreover, cannabis treats multiple other conditions including nausea, lack of appetite, anxiety, and inflammation. In order to make cannabis available to more patients, in 2018 he began certifying patients for medical marijuana, and that is his current passion and reason for joining the Bernard Cannabis Center.

Isis, RMAI’sis, RMA is a Registered Medical Assistant, who has compassionately assisted patients with disabilities for over 15 years, ranging from extreme anxiety, bipolar disorders, to behavioral issues. Suffering from conditions of her own, I’sis has understanding and empathy for patients with debilitating medical conditions. She has firsthand knowledge of the benefits of medical cannabis as a patient of the Bernard Cannabis Center. She serves as a consultant on medical cannabis, with a firm belief in helping others to find a balance between pharmaceutical drugs and holistic alternatives.

SuzanneSuzanne, CPhT is a PTCB Certified Senior Pharmacy Technician with an understanding of the metabolization of synthetic and holistic medications within the human body. She is educated on the endocannabinoid system and the many benefits of medical marijuana. Her patient focused experience includes educating others on the structure and balance of a medical marijuana regimen to treat a variety of qualifying conditions, including but not limited to, balancing THC and low-THC products, strains, terpenes, and the differences in delivery methods. She also serves as a consultant on medical cannabis, and has an unyielding drive to share her knowledge gained through years of multifaceted experiences in the industry. As a patient of the Bernard Cannabis Center, Suzanne is able to empathize and listen with understanding and compassion, giving feedback to help guide you on the path to wellness.

KaylaTsahai, BS is a Psychology graduate with a passion for holistic healing and helping our community. She has experience in the health and wellness industry helping people of all ages reach their goals and achieve their desired quality of life, including working one on one with students suffering emotional, physical, and social traumas. Tsahai thoroughly enjoys helping others understand alternative forms of healing, and is ready to assist you in your journey with natural medicine.

MahalaMahala, CMA is a Certified Medical Assistant with a desire to help others find much needed relief from their conditions. Seeing family members with debilitating conditions helped spur her interest in healthcare, and witnessing the positive effects of cannabis for them led her to Bernard Cannabis Center. Being a martial arts instructor, Mahala knows the importance of both physical and mental well-being; she strongly appreciates that cannabis can help with both aspects of well-being, and lead to more satisfying, more productive, and more sociable lives.

PatriciaPatricia has over 10 years of experience in the medical office setting. She has several friends and family members that, unfortunately, have had to deal with the devastation of receiving cancer diagnoses and undergoing cancer treatment. Seeing medical cannabis improve their day to day lives, Patricia has a genuine interest in helping people with medical diagnoses ranging from cancer to social disorders utilize natural medical treatments. She is an advocate and aims to continually spread the advantages of medical cannabis to all.

  • Booking Fee: $50 (Non-refundable. Credited to Visit fee if appointment kept.)
  • New Patient Visit: $250 for 7 months ($200 if paid in full at booking), $150 if US veteran/cancer diagnosis or transfer new patient.
  • Follow-up Visit: $150 (every 7 months), $125 if US veteran/cancer diagnosis.
